Al Rayyan & Al Bustan Roads

Doha, Qatar

The roads are part of the mega and ambitious Qatar Expressway Program for establishing an advanced
expressway network in Doha and all regions in Qatar. The Expressway Program includes the construction of 935 km of roads by 2022 and over 150 km by 2030 as part of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The 16 Km Al Rayyan Road commences just west of the A Ring Road and runs through Doha Expressway finishing just east of Dukhan Highway. Al Bustan South is 3.2 Km of Roadway perpendicular to Al Rayyan Road encompassing 2 main interchanges which have underpasses with flyovers.

The design required KEO to study, plan and design a road that integrated pedestrian, bicycle, public transport movements as well as accommodating a significant increase in capacity to four traffic lanes in each direction along Al Rayyan Road.

KEO was commissioned as the lead designer to provide a free-flowing landscaped arterial road and public realm environment to compliment the future development of the city. In addition, to provide access to surrounding communities the design also included the provision of 13 junctions.

The design proceeded into 4 tender packages.
