Infrastructure Master Planning & Sustainability Consultancy

Hudayriat Island

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Infrastructure and Sustainability Consultants for the completion of the Concept and Detailed Master Plan for Hudayriat Island, off the coat of Abu Dhabi City.

Hudayriat is a 30 km2 reclaimed island to the south of the existing Abu Dhabi Island.
KEO was the appointed Infrastructure and Sustainability Consultant for completion of the Hudayriat Island Master Plan.

KEO also led several studies as part of completing the chapters for infrastructure and the environment that included:
• Topographic and bathymetric surveys
• Geotechnical investigations
• A ‘natural systems assessment’ including terrestrial and marine ecological surveys
• Hydrodynamic modelling of the coastline around the island

The surveys were used in development of the master plan, and lead to the inclusion of nature reserve parks to protect ecologically sensitive areas that formed the final Coastal Management Strategy (CMS) for
the island.

KEO also led the efforts to develop the required utility loads and other infrastructure in response to the planned developments on the island. The study considered the requirements for power, potable water and firefighting, wastewater disposal, storm water and subsurface drainage, irrigation, telecommunications, high security systems, gas, district cooling and management of solid waste.
