Saadiyat Lagoons Community Buildings

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Community buildings and spaces nestled in a high-end residential seaside master development

Project Overview: Aldar launched Saadiyat Lagoons, a nature-inspired residential development with nearly 2,500 residential plots surrounded by stunning mangroves and overlooking the Arabian Gulf. Located on the east side of Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island. The development forms part of Aldar’s broader master plan for Saadiyat Island. Saadiyat Lagoons has been master planned within the 6.2 million sqm land plot acquired by Aldar.

Sustainable design is a key priority in all buildings that make up Saadiyat Lagoons. Construction of Saadiyat Lagoons began in 2023, with handovers expected in early 2026.

KEO and Saadiyat Lagoon Project: KEO has a long history of involvement in the delivery of Saadiyat Lagoons and is the Lead Consultant
in the delivery of the villa designs and providing construction management and supervision for all the infrastructure and villas.

Design of Miscellaneous Community Buildings:
Residents of Saadiyat Lagoons will have access to a range of recreational amenities and community facilities. These include parks, playgrounds, schools, early learning centers, retail and F&B outlets, a health clinic, petrol stations, a multi- purpose event venue, mosques and majalis.
KEO was commissioned as the concept architect and interior designer for most all of the community- related buildings in Saadiyat Lagoons Development. These included ten (10) typologies of buildings. KEO also developed the Design Guidelines for all the similar typologies within the master plan.

Design Vocabulary: The architectural designs of each of the buildings drew their inspiration from
its surroundings, the cultural context of the future residents, UAE Nationals, as well as the function of their intended use. The goal was to create relevant yet clean contemporary designs. A priority was also that each of the buildings should promote good social interaction and provide high-quality indoor and outdoor experiences. The architectural design of the community buildings aims to capture and harmoniously complement and unify the distinct architectural character and vocabularies found within the master plan’s four zones. Simultaneously, it caters to the individual functionality requirements of each space and structure.
